Faculty Highlights: Ms. Traill

Faculty Highlights: Ms. Traill

by Sophia Galante ’22

Wyoming Seminary is a place where both faculty and students are tremendous  parts of the atmosphere it provides. But how much do we really know about our teachers and faculty? The people who provide us with lessons in and out of the classroom are more interesting than they let on. Ms. Traill is a great example of that.

1.What’s your favorite thing about Sem?

No two kids have the same schedule. We have an amazing variety of classes, and I love that kids make a lot of use out of that.

2.What was your favorite subject in school?

I got my highest grade in English, but my two favorites were Physics and German.

3.Do you have a favorite animal?

Yes, elephants. They’re beautiful and noble.

4.What are two things you’d bring to a desert island?

A notebook with an attached pencil and a freezer.

5.If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Guacamole. But, if sandwiches count as one food, I would say sandwiches.

6.Who’s always been your biggest inspiration?

Virginia Woolf. It would have been very easy for her to lead a very safe, conventional life, but she insisted on being true to herself and making things difficult for herself, struggling with mental illness. She lived with beauty, artistry, bravery, and rebellion with her work.

7.What’s your lucky number, and why?

11 and 19. My birthday numbers.

8.What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever visited?

Morocco. I went there with my sister. It was so beautiful and fascinating to visit.

1. How do you think your bulldog would describe people if he could talk?

He would describe people as something along the lines of “food bringers.” He’s not the smartest dog around.

2. If you could pick anyone to be president, who would it be and why?

Coach Troy Edwards because he’s a nice guy, he seems pretty trustworthy and he’s not a politician.

3. What’s the biggest change from Illinois to Pennsylvania?

Illinois and Pennsylvania are fairly similar. The weather is pretty bad in both states. Although coming from the Suburbs of Chicago, Kingston Pennsylvania definitely has a more rural or less densely populated feel.

4. What is one thing you’d like everyone to know about you?

I feel like if they don’t want to put the effort into finding it out, I’m not sure if I want them to know.

1) If your life was a movie what it called and why? What the genre be?

If my life was a movie it would be called something snazzy… I’m not sure. Wait, actually, Something Snazzy sounds kinda fun. It would be non fiction.

2) What do you think dogs dream about?

I think my dog, Milo, dreams about food and playing.

3) If you could make one rule at Sem that everyone has to follow(teachers and students), what would it be and why?

If I could make one rule that people follow, it would be to be nicer to one another.

4) What is one thing you want everyone to know about you?

I have found over 20 four leaf clovers in the last year.
